BENEVOLENT INSTITUTION TRUSTEES.
The woelily meeting of the Benevolent Institution Trustees, hold yesterday, was attended by Messrs Solomon (ohairmaii), Hayues, Carroll, and Fagan. Accounts amounting to £110 4s were passed for payment.
Mr FAGAIf Btated that a woman in the institution who was thought to be insane had been threatening the lives of other inmates. It appeared that Dr Stenhouse had previously recommended that tho woman should be sent to tho asylum, but Dr Alexander, to whom the matter was referred,'thought that it was not advisable to send her there. After some discussion it was decided to refer the matter to the chairman and Mr Carroll to ts.ke what stepß they deemed necessary with regard to the woman.
Dr Stenhouae, in his usual weekly report, stated that if it was proposed to turn ono wing of the institution into a hospital ward, it would be neeeßaary to have the walls plastered. The Cuaikman eaid as Uie ward was only a refuge for destitute persons they would not be justified in Kolng to the expense of plastering the walls. Dr Macgregor had mentioned wfiun ho v,r.s hero that the ward waa one uf the beat utud for tho purpose in the eolouy. The repoit was simply received. About 40 applications for relief were dealt with.
