CITY POLICE COURT.

Thursday, September 26. (Before Messrs J. Logan and J. D. Veraud, J.P'b.) Obstructing a Eailway Oi-fickk.—John Samson was charged on the information of George Henry Ashcroft with obstructing a railway officer at Burnside while in tho execution of his duty.—Mr D. D. Macdonald appeared for the defendant, who pleaded not guilty.—-ergeant-roajor Bevin stated that on Friday, the 13th inst., the defendant was travelling from Caversham to Burmide, aud was under the Influence of drink and very disorderly. The guard asked him to leave the train at Burnside, and he refused to do «o. The guard then tried to remove him, but he offered resistance and acted very badly.—Evidence was given for the prosecution in support of this statement by the guard, John Matheson, and George Hume.—Three young men, named Maecabe, Scott, and M'Millan, who were in the train with the defendant, denied the statements made in the evidence for the prosecution; as also did the defendant himself.—At the conclusion of the evidence the defendant was further charged with behaving in a violent manner in the train on the 13th inst.—Both charges were dismissed.
