RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

Thursday, Sbptembes 26. (Before Mesßrs U. Haynes and W. Hutchison, J.P's.) Judgment was given for plaintiffs by default in the following cases:—A. and J. M'Farlane v. J. Wilkie (Eomahapa), claim £5 7s Id, for groceries supplied ; 0. Braid (for whom Mr Pinch appeared) v. A. W. Surrldge (Temuka), claim £5, for goods supplied; Dunedin Brewery Company (for whom Mr Sim appeared) v. Thomas farsons (Eketahuna), claim £15 3s, for ale supplied; same v.iame, claim £8, on a dishonoured promissory note; Martin and Watson v. Frederick Basßett (South Dunedin), claim 12s, for coal supplied j Charles Moore (for whom Mr Thornton appeared) v. Thomas Stevens (Tapanul), claim £11 IBs 3d, balanoe of account for goods supplied. In this case Mr Thornton said a letter had been received from defendant with a post office order for £3. Counsel would ask for judgment for the balance, with coits as on the amount sued for. Judgment accordingly. Brown, Ewing, and .Co. v. J. 1. Stewart, claim £8 7s 6d, balanoe due for clothes supplied. Mr Thornton, who appeared for plaintiff, said that a part payment had also been made in this case since the issuing of the summons, and he would ask for judgment for the balance, with costs as in the last case. S. G. Smith v. George Cowan (Port Chalmers), claim £1 5s sd, for meat supplied.
