LICENSED VICTUALLEHS ASSOCIATION.

The annual general meeting was held od Wednesday at Carroll's European Hotel, Mr C. F. Greeuslade in the chair.

The necessity of organisation in the trade was thown by the recent spct-nh of a Mr Houchins, who, no doubt unguardedly, but at the same time very truthfully, exposed the real feelings and ultimate .'lims of the party he represented. He trusted, however, that the great majority, conMsiing of the really temperate and moderate public, would not allow tbeuifielves to be misled liy tho pretended moderation of the prohibitionists, but would take care to keep the power in their own hands and not allow an organised, persistent*, and fanatical minority to steal a march.

The following worn elected office-bearers for tbe cunning year:—President, Mr C.l. Greenslade; vice-president, Mr G.Jacobs; treasurer, Mr W. h. Philp; solicitor, Mr S. A vote of thanks was accorded to the president, vice-president, treasurer, aed secretary for their services during the past year.
