THE GENERAL ELECTION IN NEW SOUTH WALES. Sydney, January 30.
(Received Janunry 3", at 12.40 a.m.) In addressing his constituents at St. Leonards last night, Sir Henry Parkes met with a most enthusiastic reception. Intense excitement with regard to the forthcoming elections prevails throughout the colony. The Freetrade candidates are bound to carry the city and suburbs. A STRIKE ENDED. Most of the Woolongong miners who were out on strike have now returned to work. THE PREUSSEN'S PASSENGERS. •" The Preussen's passengers were released from quarantine to-day. COMMERCIAL. January 29. (Received January 30, at 11 p.m.) Wheat is at 3s 9d to 4s, and oats at 2s 4d to.2s 6d per bushel, maize is 4s 6d per 561b, Sugar Company's No. 1 pieces £25 per ton. SOUTH AUSTRALIAN REVENUE. Adelaide, January 29. (Received January 29, at 11 p.m.) The revenue returns published to-day show the South Australian revenue to be -£334,000 below that of the previous year. Tlie expenses of the Government show a reduction of £220,000 compared with the preceding year. The deficiency in the estimates of December amount to over £1,000,000.__
