MORNINGTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.
At an adjourned special meetiug of tha Morniugton Borough Council held last evening there were present—The Mayor (Mr Stansfield), Crs Campbell, Cahill, Scoullar, Prapv/ell, Carey, and Grindley.
The Inspector reported re boundaries of the Glen road, aud produced a plan showing the encroachment on Mr Laing's property. In connection therewith the council considered the question of rating over ," Laing's road," and after considerable discussion it was moved by Cr Cahill and seconded by Cr Fiupweix— " That this borough pay Mr Laing the sum of £7 17s for a piece of land fronting his property in the Glen road, as shown on plan marked A, on his executing a transfer of his laud to the council at tho council's expense."—Carried. The Mayor reported, re encroachment on Nidpalh road, that he had interviewed Mr Street, who is acting for Mr M'lntosh iv the matter, and that whilst talking ou the subject Mr M'lntosh had joined them, and that on its being explained to him that up to tho present he had not attempted to prove his claim or title to the piece of road iv dispute by forwarding any certified plan, so that the council could have somo reliable data to work upon, he admitted the justice of the remark, anel offered to meet the couucil in the matter by contributing half the cost of such survoy to fix the said boundary. The clerk also read a letter, dated 18th June, from Mr Street on the samo subject, and it was moved by Cr Scoul»r and seconded by Cr Giundlhy—" That Mr Street's letter re Mr M'lntosh be received."—Carried.
It was also moved by Cr GriNdiey and seconded by Cr Carey—" That the well in front of Mr M'lntosh's property in Nidpath road be filled up forthwith, the inspector to act."— Carried.
