SOUTH DUNEDIN BOROUGH COUNCIL.
The regular meeting of tho Borough Counei was held last night. Present—His Worship the Mayor (Mr Wardrop), Crs Chetwin, M'lntyre, Fiddes, Osborne, Marlow, Sullivan, audCossenss CORBESPONBENCE. A circular was read from tho Secretary to tho Treasury stating that £193 7s ld had been I paiel into the National Bank to the credit of the borough, beiug refund of amount paid for wages widening Anderson's Bay road.—Re- j ceived.
A lotter was read from the Property Tax Commissioner that he had sent to the Treasury a voucher for £93 15s, balance due the borough under the Local Bodies' Finance and Powers Act. —Received.
A letter was received from the Colonial Secretary asking for a return of officers composiug the staff of the borough.
The Town Clerk (Dunedin) intimated with regard to the application for a free supply of water to scour the mains, that the city surveyor had received tho necessary instructions to give effect to the request provided it was done at night. Tho Finance Committee recommended that accounts amounting to £14519s Gd be passed for payment.—Agreed to. The Mayor's Committer recommended that tho services of a person to act as ranger for the boroughs of Caversham and South Dunedin be obtained, the cost to the borough not to exceed 10s per week; and further, that the matter be left in tho hands of the Mayor to come to an arrangement with the Mayor of Caversham as to duties, &c.—Adopted. Tho Works Committee reported that they had instructed Iho inspector to fiuish the footpaths in Cutten and Macandrew streets, including Millington's right-of-way.—Adopted. The Water and Firo Brigade Committee reported tbat the fire brigade were not supplied with sufficient gear, end recommended the captain to make out a statement showing immediate requirements, with an estimate of the amount required annually for the support of the brigade.
TENDEIiS. The following tenders were opened for kerbing and screening footpath in Macandrew road:—George Hutchings, 32s Gdper chain for kerbing, 5a 6d per yard screening (accepted); Malcolm Healy, 33s per chain, 5s Gd per yard; James Rhodes, 3Ss per chain, 5s Gd per yard. Bay View road, kerbing and screening— J. H. Appleby, 40s per chain kerbing, 5s per yard for screening (accepted).
