THE PROPOSED OTAGO WOOLGROWERS COMPANY.
TO THE EDITOR. Sik, —In your correspondent "Stirlingshire's " letter on the above subject, which appeared in your issue of the 17th inst., he expressed the fear that " the plot may be succeeding at Home and the evil be done without recall." I beg leave to say, upon good authority, that he and others inclined to that desponding view may take comfort iv the assurance that the arm of the law is quite strong enough to wrest from the hands of the promoters of this artfully contrived prospectus and-restore to their victims all moneys that may have been paid on the faith of the statements contained hi it. There can be little doubt that as soon as your fearless exposure of this impudent scheme becomes—as it certainly will, and that very widely and emphatically—noised abroad in England steps will be taken to compel the promoters to disgorge, should they have succeeded in getting any deposits from their dupes. The evidence which is forthcoming here to substantiate every statement in your ailmirable article of the 16th iust. is simply overwhelming, and I happen to know that particular care will be taken to forward that intelligence to London for the benefit of those concerned. I am, &c, ■ Bombshell. April 19.
