RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

Monday, August 10. (Before E. H. Carew, Esq., R.M.)

In the following cases judgment was given for the plaintiffs, with costs:—Dunedin Iron and Woodware Company v. W. Crammond, claim £4 13s lid, for goods supplied; Butler Bros. v. T. Savage, claim £8 Is, for goods supplied ; Margaret W. Hall (for whom Mr Hod"--kins appeared) v. J. T. Alexander, claim £6 ids for rent; J. C. Burman v. P. Anderson, claim' £2, for rent.

J. Mouat v. W. Stewart.—Claim £17 0s Cd on a judgment summons.—Mr Hodgkins appeared for the plaintiff; Mr Solomon for defendant.—lt appeared that defendant was earning £25 per month, but had not received anything since the date of the judgment.— His Worship decided that tho proceedings were premature, and dismissed tho case.

T. Christie v. J. Stephenson and Co.—Claim £53, for chaff supplied.—Mr Stuart appeared for the plaintiff; Mr Solomon for the defendants.—Judgment was given for plaintiff for the amount claimed.

Sarah Shanaghan v. J. Cotton.—Claim £15 6s, balance of wages.—Mr Gallaway for plaintiff; Mr E. Hay for defendant.—Plaintiff deposed that she had been engaged by defendant's wife at 8s a week, and had only received 7s in money and a hat all the time she was in defendant's service. She had been 18. months away from the place before she put in her claim.—The defendant admitted part of the claim, and put in several set-offs in the shape of cash advanced and clothing supplied.—Judgment for plaintiff fer m JOB k mi ** 1« « CQftft ff
