Mr M. R. jliller's annual statistics of the Hawke's Bay district show that during the year ended June 30 10,000 frozen sheep were exported. The number of sheep now in the district is 2,550,033. The export of wool was 1,369,6001b. There was little more than double tlie number 10 years ago, the number exKfLnm1?8 the decade having been nearly 2,000,000. These two and a-half million sheep are carried on less than 2,000,000 acres, of which only one-tlurd has been improved by artificial grasses. The Waikato Cheese and Bacon Factory's report shows a loss of £222 for the year. During that period 74471b of cheese were made.
