Breach of the Bankruptcy Act.—Stephen btamp Hutchison was charged (on remand) with having concealed part of his property, valued at ±75, withm three months of his bankruptcy with intent to defraud his creditors—On the case being called, Mr Logan said that he differed considerably from Mr Jones as to whether the accused should bo committed for trial or not and there was no probability of their agreeing. The Bench therefore gave no decision

Carow, Esq., R.M.) _ Neglected Child.—John Prescott, an infant m arms, was brought before the Court as a neglected child not having lawful visible means of support.—Tlie facts elicited in Court concerning the child showed that it was the mother's third illegitimate child, and such being the case her friends refused to acknowledge her unless it was got rid of. His Worship said the case was not one for committal to the Industrial School If the mother was now relieved ofthe care of the child, the State would simply be encoura<dnothat sort of thing. The mother of the child should look to its father for support, and endeavour to make him pay for the child's maintenance. The case would be elismissed. Maintenance.—Mary Ann Rogers charged her son, Thomas Bustiu, with failing to support her.—After hearing'the statements on both sides an order was made at tho request of the elefendant for the payment of 10s per week, to be paid fortnightly.
Bte-Laws.—Two persons were fined for keeping unregistered dogs.
