RADCLIFF-RITA CONCERT.
The second of the Radcliff-Rita series of concerts was given in tho Garrison Hall last evoning, and proved a great musical treat to anumerouß audience. Mr Radcliff's remarks on the origin of music and of musical instruments, and the illustrations which accompany them, ftto instructive and entertaining in a very high degree. His practical acquaintance with such a variety of instruments is remarkable, but his proficiency as a flautiut is marvellous, and nothing like it has previously been witnessed in the Colony. The programme last evening was practically the same as on the opening night, and the same enthusiasm wa3 displayed on the part of the audience. Madame Rita gave the samo selections with the utmost buccoss ; her dinging of " The bird that came in spring," and "Lol hero the gentle lark" being especially charming. Miss Jennie West was several times encored, and her brilliant playing was greatly admired. Mr O. W. Fox, a powerful tenor, appeared for the first time in Dunedin, and created an excellent impression—hia songs, " My sweetheart when a boy " and' " Never moro" (Tito Mattei), securing demands for encores; indeed, as on the previous evening, the demand for encores was persistent, but excusable under the. circumstances. This evening the last of the series of these concerto will be given, and a bumper bouse should reward the ominent artists who aro now paying a flying visit to Dunedin.
