THE PRESBYTERIAN SYNOD AND MANAGING COMMITTEES. TO THU EDITOR.
Sir,—Tho Synod passes over the essential poiut which ought to bo made clear and final — viz., What is the status of a member of committee ? Is it a seatholder in a church, or a parishioner? For, if eithor, he may be Freethinker, Atheist, or (to include all outside) antiChristian or wealthy. L3t the Synod pronounce clearly that the Session and Deacons' Court bavo uo legal status to relinquish the governing powor reposed iv them by tho members of the | Church—declare positively that nono but meinbsra are qualified to be on any church committee. Secular associations will allow no one to interfere in their concerns unless members or shareholders. Why should a Christian Church bo sunk to euch a low level for any personal consideration of a committeeman ?—I am, &c, Presbyterian. January 21.
