GOVERNMENT SUBSIDY TO FREETHOUGHT. TO THK EDITOR.

Sir, —Under the abovo heading a person writes aud signs himself" A." I beg leave to say I have read tho same in your issue of this date, and I have come to tbe conclusion that the writer is a narrow-minded, prejudiced, ignorant, and conceited bigot, as any man without prejudice will admit. His argument of comparing a violin-player -a strolling minstrel (no comparison to many that I have heard—Paganini, for instance) —with one of our great poets of tho present day, and a selfeducated man, shows clearly tbe ignorance of the writer. Further comment is unnecessary. —I am, &c, A Liberal I January 20.
