SUPREME COURT.—DIVORCE AND MATRIMONIAL CAUSES.

Wednesday, Ootobeb 15. (Before his Honor Mr Justice Williams.) frederick w. newman v. kliza newman (respondent) and. Alfred slodden (cokkspondent). Mr Macdonald appeared for the petitioner. This was a suit for divorce on the ground of adultery. Neither the respondent nor corespondent appeared, or were represented by counsel. Tho plaint set forth that the petitioner was married to tho respondent on March 2, ISGS, and lived with her at Hawksbury Bush until 1574. There were four children issue of the marriage. The petitioner gave evidence that in 1873 the co-respondent came to live with him, and that after a time witness accused his wife of improper intimacy with Slodden, but this was denied. Some few months afterwards Mrs Newman took her children to Waimate, and has there been living since with the co-respon-dent, and has had two children to him. He had not seen hi 3 wife for nine years, and had been unable to institute divorco proceedings earlier for want of means. Mr Macdonald applied for an adjournment until the 22nd inst., in order to bring a witness to prove that the respondent and corespondent were at present living together at Waimate.

The adjournment was granted.
