MR J. G. S. GRANT. TO THE EDITOR.

Sir,—l admire the persistency of your cop. respondent " Inquirer," so will reply to his two questions. First, I neither was authorised by the Provincial Government of Ofcago, nor did I engage Mr Grant to fill any official position in Otago; but I endeavoured to dissuade him against coining here, seeing there was not scope for his abilities.

Second, the Government never appointed Mr Grant to any school in Otngo. On his arrival here he opened a private school in Princes street, which, if I mistake not, he called the Dunedin Academy.—l am, &c, William H. Reynolds. Montecillo, March 22.
