Sii-.,—A well-known and highly-esteemed citizen was recently removed by death from our midst. Is any token .of regard beyond idle words to be shown ? Sympathy with survivors in the shape of words costs nothing, and are abundant, but their sin-,j cerity is to bo proved by action. Fully expecting that some step would have been taken ere now, I have' been waiting, but, remembering how forgetful mankind is, and that what is everybody's business becomes nobody's, I can wait no longer. The Rev. L. Mackie, it must be borne in mind, was a, citizen ready to lend a helping hand in every good work, and the citizens should be prepared to Bhow their appreciation of his character in a substantial manner.
