POACHING.
TO THE EDITOK. Sir, —I think it is a good idea, and one that would be_ workable now that the Society are issuing licenses, that it be generally under-, stood that any person holding one should haye the authority of the Society on meeting a brother angler to ask him to Bhowhis license, and rice vasa. This would be equivalent to a whole army of rangers, and an effectual check on poaching, even on Sundays, as there will always he a number at the rivers on that day who cannot get away during the week. . Any bona fide angler I am certain (considering the means to the end) would have no objection to produce his license when asked for in a friendly way, and anyone not being able to do so should be at once reported to headquarters, no matter who the party might be. The Society not being in a position (pecuniarily) to employ the necessary number of rangers, I hope they will take this hint, and publish a notification to that effect. By doing so it will be money in thair pocket.—l am, &c, May-fly. October 3rd.
