Lieutenant-general Sir John Adye, X.C.8., the chief of the staff in Egypt, and second in command to Sir Garnet Wolseley, is to return Home immediately, in order to advise the Government as to the steps necessary, in regard to the occupation of Egypt and the preservation of peace. Prior to the embarkation the Indian troops are to be inspected by H.R.H. the Duke of Connaught,

It is stated that Rear-admiral Anthony Hiley Hoskins, O.B.,.formerly commodore on the Australian station, is to- be knighted for his services in Egypt. A number of the Indian forces which have been in Egypt are to receive medals from the Queen personally.
