The 5 per cent. 10-40 loan has advanced 1 per cent, to 105. The 5 per cent. 18S9 loan is unchanged at 104. The 4i per cent 187!)----1904 loan has also advanced 1 per cent, to '101J, Colonial breadstuff's are unchanged. Adelaide wiieat, ex warehouse, 50s ; New Zealand 1 ditto, 52s ; Adelaide flour, ex store, 41s 6d. Best Scotcli' pig-iron has advanced 2s per 1 ton —No. 1, f.o.b. in Clyde, 545. ' At the wool sale to-day 8400 bales were 1 offered, making a total of 104,700 catalogued • since the opening, A fair demand was ex. 1 perienced. s London, December 7th. ' Washington, December Cth. General Arthur delivered his usual Presie dential message to Congress to-day. He stated ._ that the question of the construction of the c Panama Canal was one of grave national importance, and should receive earnest consideration. The United States Government would renew parleying with England in regard to l" British Columbia. It would be proposed that 5' the British Government should modify the '' Clayton-Bulwer Treaty so as to abrogate the c clauses of the same which do not comport with the obligations of America in British Coluiny bia. The President then, in reference to home i- affairs, stated that it was deemed imperative y that the army should be increased by at least ie 0000 men, and that a reorganisation of the n navy should be proceeded with without delay, i- He concluded by announcing that a commis-| sion would be appointed to take into considerat, tion tho questions of the revision of tariff and r- the reduction of taxation.

In the Supremo Court to-day the Hon. Robert Wisdom, Attorney-general, apjjlpd, on behalf of the Government, for war| r ai$s for tho apprehension of the trustees ij n thi Milburn Creek Copper-mining Co. — iJTosers E. A. Beaker (late Minister of Mines), W. O. Waddell, and C. Matheson. The applications were unopposed. Bail was offered for Mr Wiiddoll, and accepted, and orders were issued for the arrest of the two other trustees. Mr Dalley, Q.C., has been retained for the defence, and Messrs Davis and Want for the prosecution.
The cricket match between the English Eleven and Twoiity-two of Parramatta was concluded to-day, and resulted in a victory for the local team by five wickets. The Englishmen in their second innings only succeeded in putting together 05 runs. The Twenty-two went in requiring 49 to win. They obtained tho required number with the loss of 10 wickots, and thus won the match by five wickets. The ground was rather bumpy, and tho bowling of the Parramatta men was dead on the wicket.
