On the Spree, : Akd its Eefects.—-Mr Husen,. r-ne of the hands belonging to the steamer Omeo, was charged with haviug used obscene and indecent language in a pu lie place, on Tuesday evening last. ■ There were also other charges for assaulting the P. lice, and ie;iring the uniform of the arresting constable. Constable Carttr deposed to the bad behaviour of the defendant on the night in question, and also,.whenarrested,-,he resist d violently, and damaged witness's clothes. Defendant had nothing to say for himself, and was fined 20s, or 48 hours'imprisonment for assaulting the constable ;.and 14s, or 4S hours' imprisonment for tearing his uniform.

A Friend of last Defendant.—Archibald Fergusson was arraigned on the charge of having incited the prisoner Husen.to resist the Police on the above evening,' was found guilty, and fined 10s, or .48 hours' inipriaonuient. On a second charge of assault Constable May, he pleaded guilty and penitent, and as he received a very good general character, the. Bench inflicted the mitigated penalty of 10s, or 48 hours' imprisonment.

A Companion of the,Others.—Charles Myall, also belonging to the Omeo, was charged with having- assaulted Constable May on Tuesday evening. Constable May deposed that whilst arresting Husen, the defendant behaved in an outrageous manner, struck witness several tihies, and tried to release the prisoner. Corroborative evidence having been produced, the defendant was fined 40s, or seven days' iinprisoninc nfc, the Bench remarking that the Police must be protected in the execution of their duty. Other. Two O.ueos.—John Jacobson and Thomas Hardy were in like manner charged with having asaulted the constables on Tuesday night. Jacobson pleaded, guilty, and was tined 20s, or three days'impiisonment; whilst the character of Hardy's offence being more aggravated, he was fined 3Qs, or four days' imprisonment.
