SHIPPING TELEGBAMS. (from ouh own correspondents.)

Bi-ukk, July 13th. Arrived.—Emulous, from Dunedin, 5 p.m. Lyttkmon, .Tuly 13th. Sailed.—Chanticleer, for Hobart Town; and Albion, for the North. '~,'>• Wellington, July 14th. Arrived.—Wellington, from Picton ; Albion, from Lyttelton.

The 8.8. Maori took her departure for Lyttelton via intermediate ports at 8.30 p.m. on Friday. The B.s. Phoebe sailed for the North on Saturday afternoon, with a large number of passengers,, including several members of Parliament. The b.s. Stormhird returned from the South at 2 p.m. yesterday. She left the Bluff at 6.20 on the previous evening, and experienced fine weather on the coast. Th»B Storm Bird, on arrival, berthed alongside the Port Calmers jetty, and discharged Some valuable sheep. She goes alongside the Wild Deer this morninu, to tranship preserved meats, &c, and ■will then come on to Dunedin, and Bail again to-morrow fdr"the South. On her, last passage to the Bluff she encountered strong westerly gales. We thank her steward for filee. i >- The ship Wild Deor is expected to complete her loading for London about the end of thin wcok ■ ,' < , Douglas's patent boat disengaging apparatus, fitted to the ship Wild Deer's boat, has lately undergone a series of further tests. On the departure of the p.s.,Nevada the boat was hoisted up to her quarter. Captain Whitson of the Deer was in charge with a full crew. Ho was aluo accompanied by Captains Macfarlane, Cummins, and others. On the steamer proceeding down the Bay some distance, her paddles at fnll speed, and going about eleven knots, the boat was instantly dropped into the heavy backwash without shipping any sea. On Friday last the same routine was gone through •from the davits of the a. s. Albion, going about eleven and a half knots. On this occasion Captain Peacock, of the William Davie, accompanied Captain Whitson. Both tests-' proved highly successful,: gave general satisfaction to all concerned, and elicited cheers from the spectators. Those on board the Albion included His Honour the Superintendent and a number'of M.H.R's. Coal is very scarce at Port ChalioerSj there hardly being a pound on board of the hulks. The barque Antipodes is the. next vessel expected from Newcastle. Should any chance vessel drop in, her cargo would realise a high price. Several steamers have had to go away short. Green Island and Kaitangata coal is being partly used by the Harbour Company's steamers.
