TO THE EDITOR.
Sir—-I hear that,Mr Macandrew's Buppor-> ters are chuckling over the fact that the show of hands onSaturday was in favour of that gentleman. So was the show of hacdß on the Monday previousinfavour of^^"Jodk Graham,'* yet the result was quite the opposite of thai which the "show of hands" indicated. So ,1 predict, it will be in: thi?i case.: As you well pbserYed on the former occasion, a show of hands at a nomination is neither more nor less than a farce. When it is also known' that the '" horsey party," who are given tp betting,, had arranged that a crowd of their hangers-on should remain till the close of the| proceedings, when those electors whohad to re-; turn tbtheirwofkatoneo'clockwere compelled to^leave, it is not to be wondered at that they were successful in their little game. As I passed; the hustings atV one o'clock i I cpuld see numbers of respectable working meH and others leaving j and an returning at two I; saw the crowd had greatly diminished, and the "horsey supporters we^e in greater force; than ever.—l am, &c., • •. v Elkctoe. i
