Sir—Observing in your issue of this morning a letter signed Robert Stout, reflecting on Mr Macandrew and his. meeting at the Water of Leith pn Saturday last, I claim, as one who .was presentjto contradict the assertion made by Mr Stout that the said meeting was a packed one. If packing means that the electors then present; were all, with one or two, exceptions, in favour of Mr.Macandrew, then 1 admit the oharge j' but not 4a Mr, Stout would wish to convey the meaning to" the public I would -, recommend Mr Stout, editor of the Echo, to discontinue his interference and interruptions' at- meetings assembled to "listen to the deliberations 1 of candidates* when plain, straightforward statementa - are made, to the _;• evident satisfaction, of less, sophisticated; mortals, than this Solon, whose, great forte seems' the Hundreds Act, and how to mystify it. Mr Macandrew'a meetingwas a success, notwithstanding the cool audacity of Mr Stout, whose imperturbable conceit and egotism is only,^exceeded by- hiai want of courte.sy and, good breeding.
