Sir—l fear if such writers as " Old Identity" are not careful,^Mr Macandrew will have occasion, ere long, ,very feelingly to exclaim, " Save me from my friends ?' If we are too frequently reminded of Mr Macandrew'- long past services to this province —to his previous occupancy of a seat in the Assembly, and of the Superintendeney of Otago—someone not, well informed, maybe disposed [o enquire why the country was 'so long deprived of Mr Macandrew's valuable aerTioes befoe he was rescued from obscurity at the las i general election by the discriminating constituency of Port Chalmers. lam glad-that, as ye% in the present eenteat, hardly any reference has been made to Mr M-tcandrew's oonneotioß with the public affairs of this province previous to his last return as Superintendent, and if his friends are wise they will be careful to let sleeping doga lie.— l am, &&, Observer.
