WASTE LANDS BOARD.
The weekly meeting of this Board was held yesterday. The Chief Commissioner, Mr J. T. Thomson, occupied the chair, the other members present being Messrs Reid and Hughes. The District Ranger's recommendation of the boundaries within which sheep should be depastured on Waihola Hundred (block VI., Akatore), was agreed to.
The Board postponed consideration of the objections made to the sale of run 438 by the Secretary to the Wardens of the Wakatip depasturing district. The plan of the Presbyterian Church Manse site, Alexandra, was approved of.
Messrs Strode and Fraser applied for return of part of premium and rent paid on run 437, the area having been reduced from 15,000 to 12,000 acres. The Board recommended the Government to accede to the request. Mr. E. De Carle, for the Forbury Park Co., applied for a lease of 16 acres of the Sandhills, Ocean Beach, subject to such regulations as the Board might deem advisable. The object of the Company is to have the use of the ground on days on which race meetings and other amusements would be held, say 30 days during the year. • The lessees would fence and improve the gronnd
The Board requested the Company to comply with a former resolution, viz., to submit a draft lease for consideration of the Board.
Mr Gr. F. Reid, for Messrs J. W. Robertson and Co., applied for an additional area of 50 feet, south of that at present granted, as jetty site at Kingston. The application was agreed to. Messrs Connell and Moodie, for Mr Wm, Munro, applied for 20 acres on run 243, submitting plan for approval. The plan was approved. In answer to a letter from Messrs Wright, Stephenson, and Co., for Mr C. H. Tibbetts, the Board decided that cattle put to depasture on Hundreds after the Ist June were liable to the full assessment.
A letter was read from Mr R. Westwood, declining to accept lease of Railway Reserve, Clyde, from year to year, and requesting a lease for 21 years. The plan of a proposed coal lease to Messrs Gibson and Millett, block VIII., Awamoko, was lodged by Messrs Connell and Moodie. The lease was granted, at a rental of L 25 per annum; the price of coal at the pit mouth not to exceed 10a per ton.
