POWER, PANTLIN and CO. report:-

There is little alteration to report since last month's report. Enquiries continue brisk, for all kinds of store sheep, and the prices for sales already made for forward delivery-will, we think, continue to be obtained throughput the season ; these we consider satisfactory, although somewhat unler last year's rates. Fat stock has been scarce, as is ususkat this time of year ; sheep, more especially, on account of shearing ; and we cannot look for a good supply until this is over. - Oiir sales this month have realised quotations given below. Fat Cattle.—Tbe market has been supplied in le s qiifintitles than' the previous month; but except in one or two instances,, prices have remained stationary. The high rates; at present ruling tell very much upon the consumption, and unless importations coniv mence from Australia; higher prices will'yet rule after the summer season has passed. >We quote 50s to 55s per lOOlbs, as market r^tes for good beef. Store Cattle.—Numerous enquiries continue, notwithstanding the high rates asked. Few good healthy mobs are to be tnet'with, We qiiote good mixed cattle, three-years old, Lip per head ; one to two years, £5 to L6. Fat Sheep.— 7Although at the commencement of the month the market was overstocked, recently it has been bare ; and stock now coming forward would sell readily at full rates. We may expect after shearing that fafc wethers will bo easier in price ; the few that have come forward have realised 4d per lb, but we look to prices coming down to last year's rates—viz, 3£d perlb. _■ Store Sheep.—There is a large demand for mixed lambs, and sales have been commenced at much higher rates than were anticipated some time time back. The supply this season is short, and not up to the dem-^. Ewes, 4, 6 arid 8-tooth, are ver; saleable, at market rates. For store wethersj trsa demand is quiet. Our quotations are :—Maiden ewes, 17a ; 2,4 and 6-toothed, 16s; 8-toothed, 11s ; lambs, equal sexes, 203 per pair ; store wethers, 4 and 6-toother], 11s. Station Property.—No ; transactions have taken place, although there are several biiyers for fair investments ; but holders are riot anxious to sell. Power, Pantltn and Co., Stock and Station Agents. James Milnek's Horse Eeport:?— The demand which prevailed in this market during the last month has somewhat abated, owing, doubtless*, to the unusual number of horses that have of late come to hand, and, consequently, a reduction in prices for all descriptions of horses has to be reporte I have received the following consignments. during the month:— i Mr Imtie's lot: 28 heavy draught mares and geldings, ex, Elizabeth Miary. from Auckland-, Mr Strachan's lot: 17 heavy draught mares and gelding 3, ex. Omeo, from Melbourne; MrR. Swan'slot': U dodo, ex Oaieo, from Melbourne; and ftT f Wm. Rowland's lot: 18 medium draught hor S s S and hacks, ex Weii lington, frona Welliag'con. Some 60r7 of } the above shipment? remain on hand." - The prices currp, n t are as follows: -Firstclass heavy dra'aght horses, L6O to L 80; medium heavy draught horses, L3O t> LSO; inferior heavy draught horses,-LlB to L3O; ordinary lig> at harness horses and hacks, Lls toL2S. J. Milner, Horse and Cattle - Salesman, Provincial Sale Yards.
