The market is well supplied with potatoes and hay, at about L 3 10s per ton." Melbourne.-The " Argus" of the 15th thus reports :—The import market has been somewhat excited during the day. Speculation in tens and half pound tobacco has led holders to d; mand higher rates. The export duty on this article had not passed at the time of our latest aivices from JYew York. A parcel of half pounds, for which 2s 7id was asked on Wednesday, is now held tor 3s 6d. About 5000 cases of kerosene have changed hands during the day, and prices were quoted at the close ot business at 4s. An export duty ha* been imposed on this article leaving Onited States ports of 20c, or about 16d per gallon From Foo Uhow Foo we have advices ot the sailing, on January 7th, of the Bsrengana with a cargo of teas. According to latest advices, there was only a small vessel (the Jane) loading at Hong Kong ior this port. Her freight list consisted almost exclusively of chow chow cargo. For quicksilver, prices are quoted at 2s 2d to 23 5J The flour market has not been so active. A parcel of 50 tons of Adelaide (Duffieid's brand) was quitted by auction at L 23 per ton. Messrs Gemmell, M Caul, and Co., offered for sale at their rooma-50 tons Duffield's silk-dressed Adelaide flour, and sold at L 23 to L 23 15s per ton, net cash; also, Stockholm tar, 26s per barrel; red lead, L 23 10s per ton; benzole. Is to 15d per gallon; pick-handles, 2s 9d per dozen; wood washboards, 5s 3d to 5s 6d per dozen ; zinc do., 7s 3d to 8s per dozen ; riddles, 15s per dozen ; tinplates, 263 to 293 per box; Kent hammers, 17s per dozen; malt and kibbling mills, 263 each ; slates, 2s 9d to 23s p?r dozen. Also, at the Melbourne and Hobson's Bay Railway, surplus stores of ship Compeer, yiz. :—Salt, L 4 5s per ton; ale, 9s 3d per dozen; biscuit, 83; bd per cwt; limejuice, Is lid per callon; split peas, 13s 6d per cwt: oatmeal, 14s 61 per task.
