Arrow Township, 28th February, 1863.

The Mfi-uori.il of the Storekeeper?, Miners, and Residents, on theAirow Gold Field sheneth — That they have obseivcd with much surprise the action taken: by'the residents of Queenstown, in reference-to the establishment of a new township, named Frankton, formed by order of his Honor the Superintendent." , ■ ■. , That your memorialists hailed with entire approval the more" perfect means of direct communication with DuneUin, in the formation of Frankton. _ That the present system of packing goods from Queenstown is uusuited for this portion of the-Waka-tipu sold field/as it adds seriously to the cost of provisions, thus 'indirectly interfering- with the development of the resources of the Province. That had this portion of the gold field direct communication with the Lake, much ground at present unworkable, through the high rats ot living now ruling, would be otherwise profitably worked. ■ That'between Frankton and the Arrow a large area of agricultural laud is to be found, and which, if placed'in the market, would meet a ready sale ; thus' forming a permanent population, with faxed pursuit?. ~ , That this portion of the gold field has contributed five-eights—-at the lowest estimate—of the gold, as shown by the escort returns, and three-fourths of the amounts deposited by the miners; proving that the e3tablishment of a central dep6t, such as Frankton, is justified and required. That your memorialists do not look upon this question as a matter ot the hour, but as involving considerations affecting the future; of these extensive gold fields. That your memorialists accept the assurance of the various tenders called for, but deem it necessary to oppose the selfish antagonism of Queenstown. That your memorialists respectfully pray that the policy enunciated in regard to Frankton, may be faithfully adhered to;""' and your memorialists will ever pray. (Signed) James Douglas, Chairman of a Public Meeting held at the Arrow Township.
