The Fresh Meat to consist of Beef and Alutton, delivered in such proportion as may be directed: When Beef i.s issued, fore aud hind quarters are to be. delivered to the troops alternately. Six inches to be cut off tlie hough and neck bones. AI ulton to be delivered in carcases. The Senior Commissariat: Of--ficer or Officer deputed by him to have the power of inspecting the live Cattle and' Sheep-intended! for. slaughter, and of rejecting any animal considered:unfit for the use of the Troops:- -The animals to lie killed and ready i'or the. further inspection of the Commissariat Officer at such times and places as he may appoint. The Bread shall be the produce of clean sound Wheaten Flour of the best quality, and baked (24 hours before issue) in loaves of 2 lbs. each. The Mould Candles are to be properly seasoned by being kept on hand by the Contractor for a suitable period after manufacture. The firewood to be hard wood, split and cut into lengths of 4 feet. The Contractor for supplying Firewood must have constantly on hand, near the Camp or Barracks, in a place to be approved by the undersigned, or his successor in office, a stock suflicient for 14 days' consumption, from which stock alone. the issues are to be made. The stock to be at all times . subject to the inspection of the Commissariat, and all wood that is objected to at such inspection must be immediately removed. The Wood, although paid for by weight, according to the Tender, must be delivered by measurement, and stacked for that purpose by the Contractor on delivery ; 71 cubic feet being considered equivalent to a. ton of 2240 Ihe It will be optional with the Commissariat to bring Coal into more general use, and reduce, or even discontinue the demaud for Firewood altogether, should such a change become advisable. GROCERIES. Tlie ration to consist of the following articles :— , £ oz. tea ' 1 „ salt. ! |„ coffee, roasted and ground 2 „ sugar 1-30 „ pepper ground. The fenders to state the rate per ration as above, delivered in packages of suitable sizes to be made direct to the Acting Quarter-Alaster. Articles especially imported or taken out of bond for his service will be free Irom colonial duties. HOSPITAL SUPPLES. These supplies are to be delivered at the expense of the Contractor, direct to the Hospital Sergeant, at the Hospital, upon the written order ofthe Aledical Officer. Each article to be ofthe best quality that can be procured. The Medical Officer to have the power of rejecting any article offered, and if proper supplies are not immediately substituted, of purchasing at the expenseof the Contractor. PRISON SUPPLIES. Rations for Military Prisoners confined in. the garrison cells to consist of the following articles, which are to be ofthe best description— NO. 1 RATION. Each tender must contain the four rations, and state the price per ration for each of the fviitr. General Conditions, I.—All the articles to be of the best marketable quality of their several kinds. 2. —Each tender to be accompanied by a statement signed by two approved persons becoming securities for the due performance of the contract, should the tender be accepted. The penalty in each case will be the estimated amount of three months' contract. 3. No transfer of a contract will be permitted without the previous consent of the undersigned, or Ids successor iv office. 4. In the event of a contractor failing to have his supplies ready for inspection and issue at the time and place appointed, the Commissariat Officer on duty to have the power of immediately purchasing the articles required at his expense, aud in the event of such failure occurring, or any portion of his supplies being rejected three times during any one calendar month, ie shall be optional with the undersigned, or his successors in office, to end the contract at once, aiid to enforce the penalty of the bond. 5. The contractor to prepare his own account monthly, according to the prescribed form, and on producing the same, with the requisite vouchers, in a complete state, at this office, payment will be made n cash. 6. It shall he in the power of either p.^rty to limit the duration ofthe Contract by giving, in ifsritirg, a. notice of three calendar njonths to the opposite party, and tp end the Contract at the expiration ot thai perjod. " Such notice to be given only o?i the first <lfty of a month, and within the period for which the Contract is made or agreed to be made. Each tender to be in duplicate, sealed in one envelope, and endorsed, " Tender for —— ," as the case may be. A tender once sent in cannot be withdrawn or altered. Notice ofthe Acceptance of a Tender will be given as soon as practicable, and the bond must then.be completed without delay. Forms of Tenders and any further information that may be required will be afforded on application at this Office, at the Military- Camp, Cemetery Hill, from ten to twelve o'clock daily. No tender will be accepted unless upon the proper form.
