THE WAIPORI.
Tha subjoined further report has been received from mounted trooper Garvy. It will be seen by it tha^ the scarcity of food at Waipori is such that many miners havehad to leave it. We believe that yesterday and to-day a large quantity of stores were sent up from Dunedin. It is to be hoped they will arrive quickly, No doubt a large population will accumulate on the spot, and there will be a large consumption. We should state that we are hi receipt of a letter signed " Drayman," denying that there is any scarcity of provisions at Waipori, but as the communication is unauthenticated by the signature of the writer, we are preclude:! from publishing it. Tho following is Mounted Troooper Garvy's report:— Waipori Ranges, 6th January, 1862. M. C. Garvy reports for'the information of the Commissioner of Police that the miners are actually starving for want of breadstuff^. None could be had here (hiring the last two days. Hundreds were compelled to leave on that account. It has been raining incessantly during the last two days; the river and creeks flooded; all the flats inundated.
