(Per Press Association.) • AUCKLAND, April 21: A civic farewell was tendered to the Governor-General and the Countess of Liverpool in the Town Hall to-night. There was ,a large attendance. In reply to an* address from the citizens Lord Liverpool said' the of Wales would nowhere receive a morewholehearted welcome than from New Zealanders, who realised! that his only desire, in common with all the members of the Royal Family, is to work for the benefit of the community and' to share "in tho nation's jovs and sorrows., "You arc right* to be gratified!. - at the appointment of Lord Jellicoe," he ; added. "Lord: Jellicoe, I am convinced, will devote his energies to: the welfare of New Zealand just as he has. given his whole life to the service he has so long adorned."
