BURNSIDE MARKET.

There was a splendid yarding of fai cattle offered at Uurnside to-day. The demand was fair and prices appeared to be .somewhat easier than late rates. Tn contrast to the cattle the yarding of sheep was of poor quality, the bulk of the pens containing sheep of medium and inferior quality. The demand for ;>l! prime sheep offered was keen at an advance in prices. Then- was a large yarding of fat '•attic. 250 coming forward. The quality taken all round was good, but as this number was in excess of the butchers' requirements, the price was back about 10s compared with last week's rates. Prime bullocks £2O to £25. medium £l7 to £l9. light and inferior £l3 13s-to £ls 15s. prime heifers and cows £ls tn £l7 15s. medium £l2 to £l3 15s. h'gfffand aged £9 to £ll 15s. Sheep.—There was a medium-yarding,* a total of 1944 head being offered. With the exception of a few pens of prime sheep, the quality was very indifferent. There was a good demand for primesheep at an advance of Is Gd per head, while medium and inferior kinds, taking quality into . considerate!), were sold at prices on a par with last week's rates. Extra prime heavy-weight wethers made up to 545, prime 42s to 4G.s. medium 34s to 395, light -and inferior 22s to 31s, extra prime ewes 365, prime ewes 35s to 40s, medium 28s to 335, light and aged 21s to 265, old roves 9.s upwards.

Fat lambs.—There was a medium yarding of fair quality, the number offered being 825. There was keen competition for all lines suitable for export, and prices were a little firmer than late rates. The values ranged up to 35s for extra- prime, medium 24s to 26s 6d. Store Cattle.—An exceptionally large number were forward: in fact, tlie store pens had a congested appearance, the number being the largest offered atBrnside for a long period. Sales were difficult to effect, even at prices much below those lately ruling. Cows and other cattle suitable for canning purposes were sold at 10s per head reduction,, while other kinds, excepting those in forward condition, were difficulty to sell, and quite a number of pens were passed in unsold. • Pigs.—There was a large yarding of good average quality.- There was keen demand for all grades, and for all forward stores prices were on a par with last week's rates. Best baconers made from Hid to Is OJd per lb, and best porkers from Is to Is lid per lb.
