As an impression has gained ground that the'financial assistance now being afforded to soldiers by the Government is' in the form of a loan-,-the Board appointed to, administer the funds de-sire-to make it plain that the assistance is not a loan but. a straight-out gift ■"'-to .;.soldiers. The "regulations do noti ! discriminate between officers and men, .and!."each case is treated on its •mierits, but iirt application is only con-sidered-after the:, applicants have passed!: as- medically fit. Three hun-dred!.-and fifty, cases have been dealtwith to date, and as many more referred'., back for further information. Thte Board is holding daily sittings t-> cope with increasing applications.
