RAILWAY APPEALS.
Per; Pbess Association. ". Wellington, May 10, Before the Military Service Board, Mr M'Yilly, Assistant General Manager of "Baflways;". appeared in support of an appeal for'the exemption of ,397 railway'men. He said that so far S2G men had been drawn and 569 appeals had been lodged. The Department would release 150 men within a fortnight. ' These men had been drawn from the 569 by the departmental ballot, and more would be released gradually as the effect- of the cut services was experienced. ' Already 5452 men had been released from the-'railway? to -go on active service. 3lr M'Villy gave an assurance that no member of the Second Divisiou of the Expeditionary Force- would be expected to go "on active service ■ until all the fit single men had gone. The appeals were adjourned for four weeks.' »:■'"-'■'".
