WAIMATE RACING CLUB.

Tlie annual meeting was held on Saturday afternoon in the County Council Chambers. Mr Carlisle Studliolnie presided over a good attendance of members.
The Committee iu presenting the thirty-fourth annual report referred to the fact that the financial position continued to improve. Although £ll7 10s had been expended in improvements, during the \<igtr, the credit balancestood at £ll9B Is lid, as against £B4-1 8s Id at the beginning of the year. The annual race meeting was a great success, records being established tinder all heads. The gate receipts were £426 9s, against £296 lis the previous year; and the totalisator -receipts showed £12,880 against the previous year's £8961. The accommodati-oii proved inadequate for the large gathering, and the Committee' recommended further improvements t<) the appointments at the course. As usual, the course had been lent to the Hunt Club for its steeplechase meeting, and a donation -of 30 guineas made to the Hunt Club funds, members of the Racing Club being admitted to the steeplechase free. .A new set of rules would be submitted to the meeting for confirmation. It was considered that an extra, day's racing in the spring was desirable, and if Mr "Hunter's Bill became law this session an. application would be made for a totalisator permit. The balance-sheet showed receipts for the year to be £3044 14s 7d, including £844 8s Id balance brought forward from the previous year. The principal items in receipts were: Members' subscriptions. £187; nominations and acceptances, £341; totalisator returns, £IOB4 lis 6d; gates, £426 9s;. racecards, £65 6s; privileges, £3O 16s 3d; sale of old > buildings, £53 10s. On the payments side stakes and cups accounted for £BOO os lOd, Government tax £335 17s 9d, improvements to buildings and course £417 10s. The balance-sheet and report were adopted, as were also the revised rules. The election of officers resulted as follows :—President, Mr Carlisle Studholme; vice-president, Mr N. Francis; committee—Messrs J. Wall, A. STPhersou, M. O'Brien, A. Slec. C. F. d'Auvergne, E. F. Forbes, -J. Matheson, J. Cooney, C. Bates, and J. Dench. A vote of -thanks was passed to the outgoing committee. It was resolved to grant the secretary a bonus of £2O for the past year's work in addition to his salary of £SO. Mr Hoskins thanked the meeting for recognising his services in the substan-, tial manner rt had. '
It was made a recommendation to the- committee to pay the clerk of the course a fee for his services.
A vote of thanks to the County Council for the use of their room and to the *Press for services rendered were passed', and the meeting closed. A'-committee meeting was held'after the- annual meeting. The Chairman welcomed Mr A. Slec, who was the only new member.
Mr -iN T . Francis wag appointed treasurer. Messrs Studhoimc, Perry, Gorman, Richards, Frcoman, and Kennedy wore appointed -stewards, and Mr G. V. Cpelirane was re-appointed auditor. It was resolved to procure a copy of the Turf Register as usual. One resignation was received, and 30. new. members were enrolled. This brought the membership up to 213. Accounts amounting to £9± were passed for payment.
