SMITH-CARPENTIER AFFAIR,
Received July 20, at 8.30 a.m. London, July 19. Hull, the time-keeper, states that Smith was down for fourteen seconds in the fourth round. He rang the be : l at the tenth second and shouted-to Corri that Smith, was out, but Corri overruled him. Received July 20, at 9 a.m. . Sydney-July 20.
There have been several rowdy sceeus at the Stadium lately. A section objected -to the decision on Saturday flight, when 17,000 people were present. Tire dissatisfied spectators, not- content with howling, shouting and hustling, commenced throwing bottles and other missiles, and lighted paper to various parts of the building, shouting, "Burn the place down." The lights were turned out and hoses were brought to play. The spectators made a- hurried exit, but the rowdy element resumed its demonstrations outside, smashing the windows and throwing stones on the roof. Eventually the police dispersed the crowd. SYDNEY MATCH. Sydney, July 20. The contestants at Saturday night's Stadium, fight were Fritz Holland (America) and Lcs Darcy( of Maitland). Tile American was awarded the decision on points.
