WELLINGTON RACES.
(Per Press Association.) I Wellington, July 18. The "Winter meeting of the Wellington Pacing Club was concluded to-day. The weather, with the exception of one slight shower, was fine, though cold, hut the course, owing to recent rain, was in a very heavy condition, and in consequence the times wove slow. The racing on the whole was good, and there was a large attendance of the public. Speculation on the tote was brisk, the sum of £41,171 10s going through the machine, compared with £30,457 for the corresponding day last vear, making a total for the meetof £75.315, as against £56,034 10s last year. The large increase is principally due to the fact that during this meeting there \yeve eight races a- day, compared with seven on previous occasions.
