TAMMANY'S WATERLOO.
MR SIJLZER. AS BLUCHUB IN THE NEW YORK ELECTION., New, York, November 3. Tammany.is facing its Waterloo atthe election of a mayor and other municipal officials, which takes place tomorrow, and the betting is all against it. " - The campaign which has just closed has been one of the bitterest in the history oven of New York politics, ami the last days have been marked by rioting. "Liar" and "Perjurer" have been , the mildest terms used by the candidates about each other.
Tammany's candidate for mayor is Judge Edward M'Call, of the Supreme Court, and a fpw days ago Mr William M'Laughlin, the son of a famous police inspector, mado an affidavit that liis father had lent. Mr M'Call the money to buy his judgeship. Mr M'Call countered with an affidavit by ox-Inspector M'Laughlin that his Son was demented.
Opposed to Judge M'Call is Mr John Purroy Mitchell, who is now Collector of the Port of New York. He is a grandson of John Mitchell, the famous Irish revolutionist, and is a Democrat, but he has the support of the Bepublieans, Mr Roosevelt's Bull Moose party, and all the reform elements. Juclge M'Call declares that lie is a perjured renegade. 'Mr Sulzer; the impeached and denosed Governor of New York State, has been making, a remarkable fight against Tammany. He is a candidate for the State Assembly in New York's East End, but he is making a general attack on Tammany and supporting MiMitchell. His.Press manager, Mr John A. Hennossy, has been giving out fresh revelations of Tammany methods every day. usually supported by affidavits, and sometimes by dictaphone records.
Mr- Sulzed may play Bluclier to MiMitchell's Wellington if lie can organise liis East Side battalions against Tammanv. This district was the stronghold of the late "Big Tim" Sullivan, who voted solid for Tammany every year, but since his death no successor oi' equal power lias appeared.
