NAVAL DISASTER.

BATTLESHIP SINKS SUBMARINE. [Bt Electric Telegraph—Copyright,] (Per Press Association.) Paris. June 8. The battleship St. Louis collided with and cut in two the submarine V endemaire at Cherbourg. Twenty-six of the crew were drowned. The Vendemaire. practising at attack, rose under the St, Louis how, and sank in 160 feet of water. Great bubbling on the surface ensued, and. the sea was covered with oil. Portions of the Vandemaire's deck rose withm twelve minutes. ■Th-*-warships immediately anchored on the- spot, but nothing further was seen. Strong sea. currents impede salvage. Received June 10, at 8.50 a.m. . Paris, June 9. The battleship Marseillaise will remain on the scene where the submarine sank at Cherbourg. Lieut, Prional, commander d. the Vendemaire,'left three children.
