HAYWARD'S PICTURES
There was a good house at Hayward's pictures last night, when "The Spirit of the Gorge" was again screened. The other pictures also bespoke for themselves the plaudits of the audience. This evening the present programme will be screened for the last time.
On Monday evening Signor Georgie Martinengo, solo 'cellist and baritone, under engagement to the Hayward's Company, will make his appearance. Signor Martinengo comes with a high reputation, and his instrumentation arid singing will largely assist to popularise the rapidly growing popularity of the Picture Palace. The New Zealand Times, writing of Signor Martinengo, says that "The Unemployed Musician," a pathetic Scena, is presented in a manner which stamps this artist as one of more than ordinary attainments. His act throughout is clever and finished, and is very enjoyable. Every detail is pleasing, and Saturday's audience was insistent in its demands for encores. Other papers write in similar laudatory terms of Signor Martinengo. A strong programme of moving pictures will be screened each evening.
