TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIPS.
(Per Press Association-.) Cliristchurch. December 23. The weather was dull and muggy this morning when the New Zealand Tennis Championships commenced. Oliver (Canterbury), champion, beat Wertheim (Melbourne) in three straight sets, 6—l, 6—3, 6—2. Brookes defaulted to Pcacork, the present champion, and Heath to Wilson. In tho Ladies' Singles, Miss Stewart (Victoria) beat Miss Bloxam (Canterbur v), 6—o, 6—l.
