The chief attraction is the Racing Club's meeting at Ellerslie. All athletic sports proceed as usual. The Governor inspected a large, parade of Territorials, Senior Cadets, and Boy Scouts iu the Domain. Officers of_ the unattached reserve lists. King's Veterans, Guards, and Empire "Veterans were present. The Governor presented Mr Nortlicroft, late Stipendiary Magistrate. with the New Zealand Cross. His Excellency also made a personal visit to the hospital yesterday and inquired as to the condition of Mr R. Claude, who stopped a runaway train and prevented a collision with the express in which his Excellency was a passenger. Mr Claud«? is seriously ill with pleurisy, and his condition is'causing anxiety.
