INFECTIOUS DISEASES IN SOUTH CANTERBURY.

(Per Press Association.) Timaru, May 16. At the Hospital Board to-day an unusual number of cases of infectious diseases were reported—scarlet fever 10, diphtheria 6, and enteric 5. Two of enteric were fatal at Fairlie. The Board decided to take steps to have a good inspection of the district mado in view of the. plague rats found at Auckland, which may be brought by vessels, and generally carrying out the regulations when received.
