MISS .GRACE PALOTTA AS AUCTIONEER. (Per Pbess Association.) Dunedin, May 8. A large crowd assembled at tlie Town Hall this afternoon, wlien seats for the matinee by Hugh J. Ward's Company on Wednesday in aid of the fund for the women's ward at the hospital were disposed of by auction by Miss Palotta. The public supported the effort to raise the fund to a satisfactory extent, the prices ranging from £2 2s downwards. Some of the purchasers generously handed the tickets back for resale, and the total was augmented in consequence. About half the seats in the dress circle and some in the orchestral stalls were sold. The total realised was about £B4. The sum collected to date amounts to £I4BO.
