Owing to the wet weather the North Otago Ladies' Hockey Club's opening clay, which was fixed for next Thursday, has been postponed. The usual practice will be held to-morrow, ■ when a full attendance is requested. The N.Z.L. and M.A. Co. will hold an important clearing sale on Mr J. S. Wilson's farm at Papakaio to-morrow commencing at 11.30 p.m. A drag will leave the' Commercial Stables for the Kale at 10.15. The New Zealand Society of Accountants has issued a revised syllabus in connection with the examinations next November. Copies may be obtained by applying to the secretary, Air E. W. The Rev. P. C. Rennie, of Herbert, will lecture. on Burns in the Public •Hall, Ngapara, on Thursday, May 18th. The revi gentleman has already delivered this lecture in several portions of the district with success, and his familiarity with incidents in tjie life,of the poet enables him to treat the subject in an entertaining manner. Mr Jas. Nelson, who leaves the Pukeuri district after a residence _of nearly four years, will be presented with an illuminated address in the Hall tomorrow evening. A farewell social has also been arranged, and a full attendance of-those interested is desired.

Skating will be held at Ngapara tori iglit, Duntroon to-morrow, Hakataramea on Friday, and at Kurow .oh Saturday. ;'■ The ladies are reminded of the special session at the Skating Rink this evening. r Instructors will be at the rink to assist learners and the Citizens' Band will be in attendance.
