EASTER REGATTA.
To the Editor. •• Sir,- —I am pleased, to see that the ■ idea of holding a regatta in Oamaru at Easter is being taken up again; I am sure if the townspeople put their shoulders to the wheel, regatta day in Oamaru can he made a big success. Oamaru has the reputation of being slow; let us on this occasion wake up, and make the regatta worthy of our town. Trusting that my efforts will induce others to assist in a good cause, so that a good regatta programme may be put on, —I am,-etc., OLD RESIDENT. To the Editor. Sir, —I have read with pleasure the letters" that have appeared in your paper, and hope they will be the means of starting a .regatta that will be - a credit to the town. It is_ quite true as I'G-et Going" said in his letter that when holidays come nearly everyone that can deserts the town. As a spectator- of last year's regatta I am sure. I am voicing the opinion of many when - I say it provided an excellent afternoon's sport besides being something out of the common, especially in Oamaru. I think it would be a good idea to hold another this year and am sure it * will be made a big success.— I am, .etc. SPECTATOR.
