OTEPOPO SCHOOL CONCERT.

The animal prize fund concert was held' on Thursday night. Mr John Falconer presided, and tho hall was crowded with an appreciative audience. The Cha irnian, after giving a resume of the year's work, . stated that the programme consisted of items by the school children and by adult performers, and, as it was a long one, he would curtail his own remarks and set the ''ball rolling." Tho children's items were well and lustily rendered, and consisted of: Piano solo, "Home, Sweet Home," Elsie Fleming; scenn, "The Flowers' Reception." Maggie "Robertson (Flower Queen) and tlie Sprites Violet, Daisy, Anemone.- Apple Blossom, and .Forget-me-not: songs, "Hearts of Oak," "British Grenadiers," and "God Defend Now Zealand" ; recitation and chorus, "Red, White, and Blue," by three senior girls: solo. "The Ivy Cottage," Angus M'Millnn; recitations, "Sixty Years Ago," Ivy Frame; and "Busy Housewives," by five Standard lE. girls. " ."wmpanhnents were tastefully 1;. :?lsie Fleming. The adult singers were .Mrs J. Low and Misses Gurrie and Ormandy (Maheno), Captain Marshall, and Messrs R. Hutton and F. Eobertsnn (Waiauakarua). All the singers were favorably received and. had to respond to encores. Mrs J-. A. Ross narrated the story of "My Lady's Leap," and Miss Marr delighted the audience with lier finished performance of the Highland Fling. The various soloists were very efficiently accompanied by Mrs Low, while Miss Al. Ross played suitable music for "he dancer. The Rev. P. C. Rennie, in very laudatory words, proposed a very hearty vote of thanks to the performers and the chairman. This was vociferously carried. Before leaving the. hall the performers, young and old, were treated to refreshments which the committee had very thoughfnlly provided.
