DROUGHT.
To t-he Editor. Sir,—We are now living in perilous times, when men are more lovers of pleasure than lovers of God—aiid hence the drought. This is threatening to be the worst season we have liad yet, and if the proper remedy is not used we will have no winter feed. Explosives are talked about, but what effect can tliey have with the. Almighty; they cannot alter God's decree. No, the only remedy is in . the whole district humbling themselves before God, confessing their sins, and. asking for mercy. v
Now, my humble opinion is that the people in North Otago have as much need •of humbling themselves "before God as the Ninevites in the time of Jonah had, and if we follow their example and assemble ourselves together in halls and churches, and one and all cry mightily to God, we will get rain; but without repentence there is no remission of sins.—l am, etc. R, MACGILLIVKAY.
