PERSONAL.

At a meeting of the Professorial Board last night, Montague Onglcy, of, Waitaki High School, was nominated as Rhodes' scholar for Otago. His Excellency and Lady Islington and suite attended the Victoria League's garden party at To Koraha, the residence of Mr Arthur E. G. Rhodes, Christchurch, yesterday afternoon. The function was largely attended.

Mr B. .Sumptcr; of the Bank of NewZealand's local staff, is under orders to transfer to the bank's Invercargill branch, and will leave to enter on his new' duties in a few days'' time. Mr Sumptcr, by his courteous arid obliging manner, rendered himself a popular, official, ;and the regret of his friends at 'his removal from the town will be tempered by "the fact that the transfer means well-merited promotion.
